Help Those Impacted by the California Wildfires

This month has seen unprecedented wildfires throughout northern and southern California. They have swept through communities, destroying homes, businesses, and lives.

To assist those in the credit union family, the Northwest Credit Union Foundation is one again partnering with the National Credit Union Foundation to activate the online disaster relief system, CUAid. Together, foundations focus on giving back in the face of natural disasters, such as fires, hurricanes, and earthquakes.

Donations to the Foundation’s General Disaster Relief Fund will go toward credit union employees and volunteers affected by the wildfires. Those interested in donating to the General Disaster Relief Fund can do so on the NCUF’s website.

“These wildfires have inflicted unimaginable tragedy on thousands in California, including those in the credit union family. The Northwest Credit Union Foundation’s mission is to help others, and now is an imperative time,” said Sharee Adkins, NWCUF Executive Director. “In 2017, when the Northwest experienced massive fires, credit unions across the nation came to our aid. Now is the time to give back.”

All donations through CUAid go directly to credit union disaster relief. In the event that any donations to the “General Disaster Relief Fund” are not used for a current disaster affecting credit union people, the funds will be used for any future credit union disaster relief efforts.
