The Northwest Credit Union Foundation is pleased to welcome three new leaders to NWCUF’s Board of Directors.
Jackie Hoonjan, President and CEO of Pacific Cascade Federal Credit Union; Kelly Schrader, former President and CEO of iQ Credit Union; and Dan Thurman, President and CEO of East Idaho Credit Union, will add their leadership to the Board.
Other NWCUF Board members include Stephen Pagenstecher, Chief Operations Officer at Point West Credit Union, serving as NWCUF Board Chair; Gene Pelham, President and CEO of Rogue Credit Union, serving as NWCUF Vice Chairman; Jim McCarthy, President and CEO of Trailhead Credit Union, serving as NWCUF Board Secretary/Treasurer; and Shelli Millhuff, President and CEO of Nordstrom Federal Credit Union, serving as a Board Director. Troy Stang, Northwest Credit Union Association President and CEO, serves as the Foundation’s Board President.
“Jackie, Kelly, and Dan bring diverse perspectives and expertise to the Foundation’s Board. We are so grateful for their dedication and look forward to their contributions, as the Northwest Credit Union Foundation works to deepen credit unions’ community impact throughout the region,” said Sharee Adkins, NWCUF Executive Director.
Hoonjan has led Pacific Cascade, based in Eugene, Oregon, since 2017. She’s been part of the Credit Union Movement for 15 years, and has 33 years of experience in the financial services industry. In addition, she is active in her community, currently serving as Board Secretary for United Way of Lane County in Eugene.
“I am honored to be accepted to the NWCUF Board of Directors,” Hoonjan said. “I look forward to helping grow NWCUF into a stronger foundation where credit union communities, credit union employees, and credit unions boards will come together and improve the quality of life in our immediate areas.
Schrader most recently led iQ Credit Union, headquartered in Vancouver, Washington. She served as President and CEO for more than six years, and prior to leading iQ, held several leadership positions with OnPoint Community Credit Union. Currently, she is leading philanthropic efforts in the Northwest and serves as Secretary of the Board of the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation.
“The opportunity to combine a lifelong commitment to our communities and credit unions alike through this Board appointment could not be any more exciting,” Shrader said. “I look forward to serving alongside such a talented group of Directors and striving to meet our members’ needs.”
Thurman currently serves as a Director on the Northwest Credit Union Association’s Board and has served on NWCUF’s Board in the past. He joined East Idaho Credit Union, headquartered in Idaho Falls, in 2002, and has led the credit union as President and CEO since 2017. Thurman is actively involved in community efforts, as well, serving on the Board of the Monticello Montessori Charter School since 2017, and volunteering time with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Eastern Idaho Technical College, and other local organizations.
“I love the work the Foundation does to help credit unions, our employees, our members, and the communities we serve,” Thurman said. “Together we can help strengthen our communities and the credit union voice.”
Focusing on economic empowerment, asset building, and cooperative development throughout Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, NWCUF works to expand and deepen credit unions’ community impact by serving as a convener, resource, and thought leader to credit unions.
