Numerica Credit Union recently awarded $300,000 in community grants to 30 nonprofit organizations across the Northwest.
The credit union’s Charitable Fund is focused on addressing systemic issues facing the region. The nonprofits receiving 2021 grants stood out for innovative, inclusive, and collaborative efforts making a deep impact in areas such as generational poverty, hunger, homelessness, domestic violence, and access to quality education.
“Numerica is proud to support organizations that foster education, support women and children, and work to end hunger and homelessness,” said Numerica President and CEO, Carla Cicero. “This annual grant program is just another way we show our commitment to enhancing lives, fulfilling dreams, and building communities.”
Women’s Hearth, a drop-in center for homeless women in Spokane operated by Transitions, is one organization that received grant funding this year.
“After over a year of changes during a fearful time, knowing that community members like Numerica still support the work at the Women’s Hearth is a huge encouragement to our hearts,” said Sarah Lickfold, Development Director at Transitions.
Meals on Wheels Spokane plans to use its grant fund to target long-term efficiencies and innovations.
“These funds will help our organization become self-sustaining by expanding our kitchen capacity and bringing more meals to those in need throughout Spokane,” said Executive Director, Beth Alcorn. “Partnerships with caring community businesses such as Numerica allow us to provide for our homebound seniors in innovative and exciting new ways.”

The Numerica Charitable Fund is made possible by members through Skip a Pay, a voluntary program available on certain qualified loans. Members are allowed to bypass a monthly loan payment once every six months for a $30 fee, which is rolled into the fund to support community nonprofits.
Skip a Pay is just one way Numerica honors its annual commitment to give back at least 5% of earnings to the community. In 2020, the credit union contributed more than $1.8 million — nearly 6.5% of net income. For a complete list of 2021 Charitable Fund grant recipients, visit Numerica online.
