Colorado Credit Union and Girl Scouts of Colorado recently introduced an exciting new patch program – the Junior Financial Counselor patch. This innovative patch program is designed to equip girls with financial management skills to become leaders in their community.
“The Junior Financial Counselor Patch Program offers Girl Scouts the opportunity to gain essential financial knowledge and the skills to make smart financial decisions throughout their lives while empowering the next generation to achieve their goals and contribute meaningfully to their community,” Colorado Credit Union President Mike Williams said.
With two launch events in September, held at the Girl Scouts DreamLab in Denver and for Girl Scouts in Grand Junction, 60 Girl Scouts were the first to earn their Junior Financial Counselor patch. During the launch events, older Girl Scout mentors along with Colorado Credit Union staff volunteers guided elementary school-aged Girl Scouts through interactive workshops on budgeting, making smart financial choices, and saving. By the end of the event, each participant proudly earned the exclusive Junior Financial Counselor patch and gained valuable financial tools they can use and share with their friends, families, and communities.
“Thanks to Colorado Credit Union, Girl Scouts have the opportunity to gain practical insights on financial basics,” said Girl Scouts of Colorado CEO Leanna Clark. “The Junior Financial Counselor Program fosters personal growth and empowers girls to become effective leaders.”
The Junior Financial Counselor patch program is an ongoing initiative, available to Girl Scouts and their families across Colorado, fostering lifelong financial skills and understanding.
