Four local area credit unions and the GoWest Foundation have launched the East Idaho Welcome Home program, offering zero-down-payment mortgages that support individuals and families looking to transition from renting to owning their first homes.
This loan program was created to expand home financing options for families at or below 140% of the median household income level and can provide an avenue to overcome affordability, down payment, and credit qualification challenges — enabling families to transition from renting to building wealth.
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a first-time homebuyer
- Be employed or have a consistent income source for at least the past two years
- The purchase property must be located in one of the following counties: Bannock, Bear, Bingham, Bonneville, Butte, Caribou, Cassia, Clark, Custer, Franklin, Fremont, Jefferson, Lake, Lemhi, Madison, Oneida, Power, or Teton County.
- The property must be a single-family home, townhome, or a detached or attached 1-unit residence
- The total, yearly household income must be at or below 140% area median income (AMI) of the county where property is located. Find AMIs here.
